A job needs your decision

When a flexible one-off job's window closes before the diary could place it, it waits for you to place it by hand or cancel it.

What it is#

When you add a one-off job and let the diary place it, you give it a number of days to find a slot in. Sometimes the diary cannot find room before that window closes. Rather than place it late or drop it, the diary stops and leaves the choice to you.

Each job that needs you is listed on one page, Needs your decision, with the customer, the address, the date, how long the job takes and the reason: the job's window closed before it could be placed.

When to use it#

Use it whenever the dashboard shows the card saying how many visits need your decision. The card is on the dashboard only, not the diary.

How to do it#

  1. On the dashboard, press the card that says a visit needs your decision, marked Tap to resolve.
  2. On Needs your decision, read each item.
  3. To keep the job, press Place it by hand. The move sheet opens so you can choose a day, a time and a team member.
  4. To drop it, press Cancel this job. It is cancelled straight away, with no second step.
  5. Press Back to the diary when you are done.

What your customer sees#

Nothing while the job waits here. Once you place it and it is confirmed, the customer gets the usual confirmation, if customer emails are switched on. It gives the day and whether to expect you in the morning or the afternoon, never a clock time.

What happens next#

A job you place by hand is pinned where you put it and leaves the list. The diary does not move it by itself. If the day is inside your confirm window, it is confirmed at once.

A job you cancel leaves the list and the diary.

The team member sees a placed job on their page. If it is today or tomorrow, they are emailed straight away.

When nothing is left, the page says so and explains that flexible jobs whose window closes will appear there with their choices.

Good to know#

  • To give the diary longer next time, set Within the next to more days when you add the job.
  • If you would rather choose the slot from the start, choose Choose the slot when you add the job. It is booked at once and never lands here.
  • In self mode ("I place visits myself"), jobs you do not place yourself go to Waiting to be scheduled instead, so this page is mainly for automatic mode ("Let the diary plan itself").
  • The diary checks for closed windows when it plans, including the nightly check.
