The app on your phone

Use RotaRound in your phone's browser, add it to your home screen, and turn on push notifications for the events you choose.

What it is#

RotaRound runs in your phone's web browser. There is nothing to download from an app store. Every screen works on a phone: the dashboard, the diary, customers, the team, the Mailbox, notifications and Settings. On a narrow screen the menu folds into one button at the top.

You can add RotaRound to your home screen so it opens like an app, and then have push notifications sent to the phone for the events you choose.

When to use it#

Use it when you run your business from your phone during the day: to check who is where, move a visit, reply to a customer or cancel a day when the weather turns.

How to do it#

  1. Open RotaRound in your phone's browser and sign in. After three sign-ins, a banner offers to add RotaRound to your home screen. Press Show me how for the steps for your phone, or Not now to hide it for 30 days.
  2. You can also do it from Settings. On a phone or tablet, Settings has a section App on this device, in the group You. Press Set up the app on this device.
  3. If RotaRound is not on your home screen yet, the section shows the two steps for your phone. On an iPhone, tap the Share button in Safari, then tap Add to Home Screen. On Android, tap the three dots in Chrome, then Add to Home screen.
  4. Open RotaRound from the new icon on your home screen, go back to App on this device and press Set up the app on this device again.
  5. Your phone asks whether to allow notifications. Allow them. The phone is saved, and push is turned on for every event that is on by default.
  6. To choose which events reach the phone, go to Notifications in Settings and tick or untick the Push column for each event. Press Save notifications.

What your customer sees#

Nothing. This is for you only.

What happens next#

Push notifications arrive on the phone for the events you ticked, such as a customer accepting an agreement or a team member's day becoming overloaded. Each one also shows on your Notifications page if In app is ticked for it.

Phones that receive push are listed under Devices in Notifications. Press Remove on a phone you no longer have.

Good to know#

  • App on this device only shows on phones and tablets. On a computer it is hidden.
  • If the phone says notifications are blocked, allow them for RotaRound in the phone's own settings, then press Set up the app on this device again.
  • Team members have their own page with its own button to add it to their home screen and turn on notifications. They choose on that page which of their emails arrive as a notification instead.
  • The phone app is the same in automatic mode ("Let the diary plan itself") and self mode ("I place visits myself").
