Notice periods

Set the notice for price changes in Settings, and the rise notice for each agreement, so customers always hear in good time.

What it is#

A customer should know about a new price before it starts. There are two notice periods, one for each kind of price.

  • Notice for price changes (days) in Settings covers customers who are not in an agreement. It is 30 days unless you change it, and can be up to 90.
  • Rise notice (days) covers customers with a signed agreement. It belongs to the agreement, not to Settings.

When to use it#

Set the Settings notice when you first set up your business, and change it if your terms change. Set the agreement rise notice when you build an agreement template, or for one customer when you send them an agreement.

How to do it#

For customers not in an agreement:

  1. In Settings, under Price reviews, choose how reviews fall due in Remind me by: Price age or Annual review month.
  2. For Price age, set Review prices after (since last price change). For Annual review month, choose the month.
  3. Set Notice for price changes (days).
  4. Press Save price reviews.

For customers with an agreement:

  1. In Settings, under Agreements, press Build new agreement and set Rise notice (days) in the template's terms.
  2. To change it for one customer only, on the customer's record press Adjust terms for this send on the agreement card before you send it, then change Rise notice (days).

What your customer sees#

Nothing changes on its own. The notice decides the earliest date a new price can start, and the price update email gives that date as a day, never a clock time. An agreement rise notice also tells the customer they may end the agreement before the new price starts.

What happens next#

The notice also decides when your reminder appears. A review falls due that many days before the review date, so a price update sent the day it appears starts on the review date itself.

In Prepare price change, New prices take effect starts at the sending day plus your notice. You can choose a later date. You cannot choose a date before today.

For an agreement rise, the app prepares the rise ahead of the date its notice must go. The earliest date it can take effect is shown in the dialog.

Good to know#

  • The Settings notice and the review timing have no effect on customers with a signed agreement. Their agreement sets both.
  • An agreement's terms are stamped when it is sent. Changing the template later does not change agreements already sent.
  • A review that you defer comes back exactly on its date, with no notice lead.
  • A price is never due for review before it is a month old.
  • Nothing here differs between automatic mode and self mode.
