Holding a price

What it is#

Not every review ends in a rise. You may want to wait for a quieter month, or keep a good customer's price where it is. Hold the price leaves the price unchanged and counts as this year's review, and the review comes back later.

When to use it#

Use it when a price is due but you have decided not to change it yet. If you want to change it, press Review the price instead.

How to do it#

On the Price reviews page, find the row in the first section and press Hold the price.
The sheet Hold the price opens. It names the customer and address and says the price stays as it is.
Choose Until the next review period, which is chosen to start with, or For a number of months and pick from 1 to 12 months. It starts at 3.
Check the line under the choice. It gives the date of the next review.
Tick Tell the customer if you want them to have it in writing. It is off unless you tick it.
Press Hold the price. With the tick on, the button reads Hold the price and email.

What your customer sees#

Nothing, unless you ticked Tell the customer. If you did, they get an email with the subject "Your price stays as it is for now". It says you have reviewed the price of your visits to their address and have not made a change, and that you will review it again in the months you chose or at their next review. It gives no clock time and asks nothing of them.

If the customer has no email address, the sheet says nothing can be sent.

What happens next#

The row leaves the Price reviews page and the price does not change. When the review comes back depends on your choice:

For a number of months: the review comes back on the date shown, exactly on that day.
Until the next review period: no date is kept. The review comes back at the next period in the usual way, a notice period before it is due: next year's review month, or the review age counted from today.

Team members see nothing.

Good to know#

On the customer's record the same choice is Hold the price, reached through Review price. It keeps the price and counts as this year's review.
On the Customers page you can tick several customers and use Hold the price for all of them at once.
Agreement price reviews are not held here. To stop one, open it and press Hold this price review.
How often reviews fall due is set in Settings, under Price reviews.
Nothing here differs between automatic mode and self mode.
