Deferring a review

Keep a price as it is for now and bring the review back later, with or without telling the customer.

What it is#

Not every review ends in a rise. You may want to wait for a quieter month, or keep a good customer's price where it is. Deferring leaves the price unchanged and brings the review back on a date you choose.

When to use it#

Use it when a price is due but you have decided not to change it yet. If you want to change it, press Review price rise instead.

How to do it#

  1. On the Price reviews page, find the row in the first section and press Skip this review.
  2. The sheet Defer this review opens. It names the customer and address and says the price stays as it is.
  3. Choose Until the next review period, or For a number of months and set between 1 and 12 months. It starts at 3.
  4. Check the line under the choice. It gives the date of the next review.
  5. Tick Tell the customer if you want them to have it in writing. It is off unless you tick it.
  6. Press Defer. With the tick on, the button reads Defer and email.

What your customer sees#

Nothing, unless you ticked Tell the customer. If you did, they get an email with the subject "Your price stays as it is for now". It says you have reviewed the price of your visits to their address and have not made a change, and that you will review it again in the months you chose or at their next review. It gives no clock time and asks nothing of them.

If the customer has no email address, the sheet says nothing can be sent.

What happens next#

The row leaves the Price reviews page. The price does not change. The customer's history records the review with no change. The review comes back exactly on the date shown, without the usual notice lead, so it appears on the day you chose.

Team members see nothing.

Good to know#

  • On the customer's record the same choice is Reviewed, holding price, reached through Review price. It keeps the price and restarts the review clock.
  • On the Customers page you can tick several customers and use Mark reviewed, holding price for all of them at once.
  • Agreement rises are not deferred here. To stop one, open it and press Hold this rise.
  • How often reviews fall due is set in Settings, under Price reviews.
  • Nothing here differs between automatic mode and self mode.
